Ella Valley

Jewish heroes of old and new – defending the border of the Judean Kingdom

Ella Valley

Ella Valley

Among the valleys of the beautiful countryside at the edge of the Judean Hills, heading towards the coast and the Mediterranean Sea, lies the ancient border of the Judean Kingdom. The endless ancient ruins will awaken our ancestors to life, as they battled the enemies again and again; from David defeating Goliath to the Bar Kokhva rebels fighting the Romans for the freedom of Zion -Jerusalem. Thousands of years later, in the year 1948, upon the same valleys and hilltops, the modern Jewish warriors fought once again, in valiant efforts to open the road to the besieged city of Jerusalem and establish once more, the Jewish State of Israel. In this tour, we will crawl underground in the caves created and used by the Bar Kokhva warriors in their rebellion against the Roman Empire. We will end the day climbing on the original Tanks used by the IDF to guard the State of Israel from 1948 until this very day.
